Page 1
After leaving the tea party, Alice used the key and mushroom to reach the garden through its tiny door. She had found a door in a tree that led back to the hall of locked doors.
In the garden three gardeners shaped like playing cards were painting white roses red. They feared the Queen of Hearts would punish them because she had ordered red roses.
Page 2
The Queen of Hearts asked Alice who she was and invited her to play croquet. The players used flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls.
Alice tried to keep her temper and find a fair way through the game. The Cheshire Cat appeared above her and asked how she liked the Queen.
Page 3
The Queen wanted the Cheshire Cat removed, but only his head was visible above the croquet ground. The King wondered how anyone could take away a head without a body.
The Queen sent the Gryphon to take Alice to hear the Mock Turtle’s story. The Gryphon was a creature with an eagle’s head and a lion’s body.
