Page 1
After Cinderella’s father married again, his new wife and her two daughters made Cinderella do every chore. She scrubbed floors, carried water, and washed their clothes.
When her work was done, she rested beside the hearth. Ashes dusted her dress, so the sisters called her Cinderella.
Page 2
One day the prince announced a grand ball. Cinderella’s stepsisters chose gowns and jewels, and Cinderella patiently helped them get ready. They laughed when she wished she could go too.
When their carriage had gone, Cinderella wept. Her fairy godmother came to her and asked why she was so sad.
Page 3
Cinderella brought her godmother a pumpkin, some mice, a rat, and lizards from the garden. With a wave of her wand, they became a coach, horses, a coachman, and footmen.
Another wave gave Cinderella a shining gown; then Godmother gave her little glass slippers. The coach and gown would vanish at midnight, but the slippers would remain.
