Once upon a time, three bears lived in a little house in the forest. There was a great big Father Bear, a middle-sized Mother Bear, and a small Baby Bear.
Each had a chair, a bowl, and a bed just the right size. One day their supper was too hot, so they left the porridge on the table and went for a walk.
Page 2
Not far away lived a little girl whose yellow hair shone like gold in the sunshine. That was why everyone called her Goldilocks.
One day she went to gather flowers in the meadow. She wandered farther and farther, until she reached a forest she had never visited before. Among the shady trees, she found a little house.
Page 3
Goldilocks knocked, waited, and knocked again. When nobody answered, she opened the door and stepped inside. Perhaps she could rest until the people returned.
She tried the chairs. Father Bear’s was too soft, Mother Bear’s too hard, and Baby Bear’s just right. She rocked and rocked in the little chair until its bottom broke.
