Once upon a time, there was a little girl loved by everyone who knew her. Her grandmother loved her most of all and gave her a beautiful red hood.
The girl liked it so much that she wore it wherever she went. Soon everyone knew her as Little Red Riding Hood—or simply, Red.
Page 2
One morning, Mother packed a piece of cake and a bottle for Grandmother, who was feeling ill and weak. Red was to take them to her cottage in the woods.
“Walk carefully and keep to the path,” Mother said. “And remember to say good morning when you arrive.” Red promised to take care.
Page 3
As Red entered the woods, a wolf stepped onto the path. She had never learned how dangerous a wolf could be, so she answered him politely.
“Where are you going?” he asked. Red told him about her sick grandmother, the food in her basket, and the cottage beneath the oak trees.
