A little old woman and a little old man lived in a small house with no children. One day she decided to bake a gingerbread boy.

She shaped his arms and legs, added eyes and a cheerful smile, and pressed three red buttons onto his chest. Into the oven he went.

The old woman opened the oven to see whether the little gingerbread boy was ready. Out he leapt, across the kitchen and into the road.

The old woman and man hurried after him, but his little baked feet were quick. He called back that they could not catch him.

Beside the road stood a cow. She called for the Gingerbread Man to stop, but he only laughed and ran faster.

The cow joined the chase behind the old couple. The little cookie was already speeding away from all three of them.
