Page 1
Once upon a time, a mother pig lived with her three little pigs. They had grown bigger, but she no longer had enough food to keep them all at home.
It was time for them to seek their fortunes. The three pigs said goodbye to their mother and set off into the wide world, each needing a house of his own.

The first pig met a man carrying straw. “Please give me some to build a house,” he asked. The man agreed, and soon the pig was inside his new home.
Then a wolf knocked. “Little pig, let me in!” The pig refused. The wolf huffed and puffed, blew the straw house down, and ate the first little pig.

The second pig met a man with a bundle of furze—prickly branches that he could use for walls. He built a little house and shut himself inside.
The wolf came knocking again. The pig refused to let him in, but the branches could not withstand his breath. Down came the house, and the wolf ate the second pig.
