While Toad was in prison, weasels and stoats from the Wild Wood had taken over Toad Hall. They had used his absence to make themselves at home.
Toad, Rat and Mole went to Badger because he knew the Wild Wood and Toad Hall well. Badger said there was an old passage beneath the house.
Page 2
Badger led Toad, Rat and Mole through the hidden passage under Toad Hall. They carried lanterns and moved quietly so the weasels and stoats would not hear.
They reached a trapdoor behind the banquet room where the intruders were eating. Badger signaled them to wait until everyone stood in place.
Page 3
The four friends surprised the weasels and stoats and drove them out of Toad Hall. Badger led the way while Mole, Rat and Toad stayed together.
The friends cleaned the hall and prepared a celebration for the neighbors. Toad wanted to boast about his adventures, but Badger reminded him of the help he had received.
